Connected Texas’ New Broadband Availability Figures Reveal Increases Across State

New research released in June by Connected Texas shows that 55.82% of Texas households now have access to fixed broadband at 25 Mbps download/1.5 Mbps upload speeds across the state, a 14 percentage point increase compared to 2011. Another notable finding is the increase of fixed broadband at 50 Mbps download/1.5 Mbps upload speeds, increasing more than 16 percentage points since October 2011. Councilman Nirenberg Seeks to Expand Broadband Access, Recent FCC Appointment to Bolster Efforts

District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg filed a request today for San Antonio staff to assemble and publish a comprehensive strategy to facilitate and accelerate deployment of IT infrastructure citywide.
